Retail inflation slips to 8.33 pc in Nov

The retail inflation for December, however, is likely to be more as it would include higher prices of onion, tomato and other vegetables. Government had take a slew of measures as onion, the staple of Indian kitchen, touched Rs 80-85 in the retail in the last month of 2010.
The All India Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) recorded an increase of 6 points each in Siliguri, Jamshedpur, Tiruchirapally and Bhilai centres and 5 points each in Giridih, Coimbatore, Mariani Jorhat, Rourkela and Selam centres.
The increase in Siliguri, Jamshedpur, Tiruchirapally and Bhilai centres is mainly on account of increase in the prices of rice, goat meat, onion, vegetable and fruit items, besides other things.
The ministry attributed the increase of 5 points each in Giridih, Coimbatore, Mariani Jorhat, Rourkela and Selam centres to rice in the prices of rice, mustard oil, goat meat, eggs, onion, vegetable and fruit items etc.
During October, CPI-IW stood at 182, one point above the previous month mark.
