Retail inflation for industrial workers eases to 6.19 per cent in June
Retail inflation for industrial workers eased to 6.19% in June compared to 7.2% in May on account of softening of prices of foods items.

The year-to-year inflation based on CPI-IW decreased from 7.2 per cent in May to 6.19 per cent in June 2014 against 11.6 per cent in June 2013, sources said.
The food inflation dropped to 5.88 per cent in June 2014 from 7.66 per cent in May. The food inflation was 14.86 per cent in June 2013.
The Consumer Price Index number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) increased by two points from 244 to 246 during the month of June 2014.
The 12 monthly moving average increased to 240, entitling the central Government employees to additional seven per cent dearness allowance (DA) from July 1, 2014.
The DA for employees would increase from 100 per cent to 107 per cent on account of an increase in moving average between January 2014 and June 2014 from 222.58 to 240, labour bureau sources said.
The largest upward pressure came from foodgrains which accounted for 1.37 per cent of the total change, sources said.
Price rise was seen in rice, fish, vegetables, sugar, cigarette, goat meat, poultry, chicken, milk, onion, potato, tomato, electricity, bus fares and soap.
However, the increase was restricted to some extent due to downward trend in prices of wheat, wheat flour, edible oils, fruits and medicines.
