Retail inflation eases marginally to 9.14 pc in September
NEW DELHI: Retail inflation for industrial workers in September declined marginally to 9.14 per cent from 10.31 per cent in previous month, mainly due to cheaper fruits and vegetables.

The inflation based on consumer price index for industrial workers (CPI-IW) was at 10.06 per cent in September, 2011.

"The largest downward contribution to the change in current index came from vegetables and fruits with a decline of 4.38 per cent, contributing (-) 0.67 percentage points to the total change," an official release said today.

The main downward pressure came from tomato, chilies, green apple and banana, it added.

Prices of rice, wheat and wheat atta, grinding charges, arhar dal, eggs, fish, goat meat, milk-buffalo, tea went up. Miscellaneous items like electricity charges, fire wood, medicine also put upward pressure in total change, it said.
