RBI analyses impact of inflation slowdown

Inflation dipped to 4.03 per cent for the week ended June 16 from 4.28 per cent in the preceding week.

PUNE: Reserve Bank of India Governor Y V Reddy on Friday said the slowdown in inflation, which dropped to a 14-month low of 4.03 per cent for the week ended June 16, and its impact were being analysed.

Impact of the downtrend in inflation is still being analysed, he said responding to questions from reporters at the fourth convocation of the National Institute of Banking and Management (NIBM).

Inflation dipped to 4.03 per cent for the week ended June 16 from 4.28 per cent in the preceding week as essential food items and some manufactured products turned cheaper.

Lower inflation will ease pressure on RBI to further increase interest rates.

Earlier, 46 students were awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance.

NIBM Director Asish Saha said the institute has applied to All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for a formal recognition of its Post Graduate Programme in Banking in Finance (PGPBF).
