NSSO survey for economic planners
NSSO to dig information for planners to shape India's future economic and social programmes.
During the survey, which will continue till June 30, 2008, NSSO will collect 2.79 lakh samples with its enumerators meeting families across the country both in rural and urban areas to collect various informations that will help planners in shaping the country's economic and social developmental programmes, NSSO deputy director general R K Khurana told reporters here on Thursday.
In the survey information related to expenditure on daily needs, participation of people aged between 5-29 years in education, money spent on education, status of employment and unemployment and migration of people would be collected, Khurana said.
Founded in 1950 NSSO survey's are considered most credible and provide vital inputs to the government.
In Madhya Pradesh the selected families for the survey are 15,312 and among them 9856 are from rural areas while 5456 represent urban areas.
Asked whether 2.79 lakh sample size gives a fair idea of things to come, he said though the size of the sample was decided according to available resources with the department that it can complete the task within a specified period, still scientific selection of samples has given credibility to the surveys conducted so far.
Asked about the NSSO report on rehabilitation of Narmada dam oustees, he said the report was submitted to the PMO, but he is not in a position to reveal its contents.
