The per capita income of the state for 2011-2012 was estimated at Rs 54,689, while the national per capita income during the same period was estimated at Rs 61,564.
The service sector remained the dominating sector in the state's economy by contributing 61.04 per cent, while industry and agriculture sector contributed 20.29 per cent and 18.68 per cent respectively even as around 60 per cent of the population depended on agriculture and allied sectors.
The Economic Survey also pointed out that 32 per cent of the cultivated area was under jhum cultivation and only 20 per cent of the demand for rice, the staple food of the Mizos, could be met within the state.
