Inflation to be 5-6% in 3 months
The rise in the prices of commodities between April and September was a normal phenomena and efforts were on to bring down the rate of inflation to 5 or 6 per cent from 7.57 per cent, Union Minister of State for Industries Aswani Kumar on Monday said
"The UPA government is taking several steps to overcome the price rise problem. We require 3 months to bring down inflation to 5 or 6 per cent," he told reporters here.
Extensive de-hoarding and other measures were being taken to fight against the price rise.
Besides, there has been bumper crop this time which would help the government to bring down price of food materials, including edible oil, pulses and others, he said.
The UPA government under the leadership of Congress President Sonia Gandhi had launched people-oriented programmes like waiver of farm loans of Rs 60,000 crore, which would ensure the party's victory in the next general election, he added.
