India unemployment rate dips to 5% in August; rural job market drives improvement
India's unemployment rate for adults (15+) dipped slightly to 5% in August, down from 5.1% in July. This is even better than the 5.2% economists had predicted in a Reuters poll, suggesting a positive trend in the job market.

The August reading was also lower than the 5.2% unemployment rate forecast by economists in a Reuters poll.
During the month, rural unemployment fell to 4.1% from 4.5% in July, while the urban unemployment rate remained largely stable at 6.8%, compared with 6.7% a month earlier.
