The growth of eight key infrastructure sectors grew by 7.8 per cent year-on-year in November after registering a growth of 12.1 per cent a month before, data from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed on Friday.

The index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) had grown by 5.7 per cent in November 2022.

The production of coal, electricity, fertilizers, natural gas, refinery products and steel recorded positive growth in November 2023, the ministry said in its statement.


In all, the index measures combined and individual performance of production of eight core industries namely cement, coal, crude oil, electricity, fertilizers, natural gas, refinery products and steel. These industries also form 40.27 percent of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP)
