India's industrial output rises 3.7% in June, down from 5.3% in May

India's industrial production dipped to 3.7 per cent in June, down from 5.3 per cent in June 2023, according to the official data released on Wednesday. In June 2022, the index had risen to 12.6 per cent.

India's industrial production dipped to 3.7 per cent in June, down from 5.3 per cent in May 2023, according to the official data released on Wednesday. Factory output measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) had risen to 12.6 per cent in June 2022.

The mining sector output saw a growth of 7.6 per cent in June this year, down from 7.8 per cent seen a year ago.

The manufacturing sector output grew by 3.1 per cent in June this year after growing 12.9 per cent in the same month a year ago.


The data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) showed that the electricity sector output saw a growth of 4.2 per cent, after booking growth of 16.4 per cent a year ago in the same month in 2022.

During the April-June period of financial year 2023-24, the growth in IIP works out to be 4.5 per cent, down from 12.9 per cent in the corresponding period a year ago.
