The final growth rate of the index of India's eight core industries for June was observed at 2.2%, earlier reported as 1.7%
The eight core industries include coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertilizers, steel, cement and electricity. The Index of Core Industries reflects the combined and individual performance in terms of output by these eight core industries that make up 40.27% of the total weight of India's Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
Steel marked the highest rise with 12.8% growth in production in July. Steel industry has reported consecutive growth in production in the last 12 months. Its cumulative index increased by 8.5% during April-July this year over corresponding period of the previous year.
The cement production increased by 11.7%, with the cumulative index increasing by 8.9% for last four months.
Coal production reported a second consecutive decline by 12.3% after a 6.8% reduction in June. Its cumulative index declined by 3.1% in April-July period.
Crude oil production declined by 1.3%, marking a reduction for seven consecutive months. The cumulative index of crude oil production declined by 1.7% during April-July.
Natural Gas production declined by 3.2% last month, following a 2.8% decline in June. Its cumulative index declined by 2.6% from April to July this year.
Petroleum Refinery production declined by 1.0% in July, after an increase of 3.4% in June. The cumulative index for this sector declined by 0.3%.
Electricity generation increased by 0.5% last month, with cumulative index declining by 1% in last four months.
India's fertilizer industry reported an increase of 2% in production after cutting production for three months since April.
