IIS Association demands a thorough overhaul of Sixth Pay Commission

Alleging that the government has given a raw deal to the officers of the Indian Information Service, the IIS Officers Association has demanded "a thorough overhaul of the Sixth Pay Commission".

ALLAHABAD: Alleging that the government has given a raw deal to the officers of the Indian Information Service, the IIS Officers Association has demanded "a thorough overhaul of the Sixth Pay Commission", so that the needs of the "highly qualified and professional segment" are squarely addressed.

In a statement issued here, the IIS Officers Association termed as "factually inaccurate" the report of the Sixth Pay Commission, which says "IIS Group B personnel join in the pay scale Rs 5500-9000. The next higher post is in the scale of Rs 6500-10,500 (Gazetted)".

"This assumption is incorrect because all IIS Group B personnel do not join in the scale of Rs 5500-9000. It is therefore, pointed out that IIS Group B has two components: (a) Junior Grade of IIS Group B (Non-Gazetted) in the scale of Rs 5500-9000 and are then promoted to Senior Grade of the IIS Group B (Gazetted) in the scale of Rs 650010,500; and (b) Direct Recruitment to Senior Grade of Group B (Gazetted) in the pay scale of Rs 650010,500", the statement said.

"However, the Sixth Pay Commission has recommended the merging of Junior Grade of Group B with Senior Grade of Group B. This has left the position of Senior Grade of Group B undefined. Thus, the Association has demanded that the Senior Grade of Group B must be given a higher Grade Pay," the statement said.
