FM releases compendium of unique practices on indirect taxes

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has released a compendium of unique practices and initiatives brought out by the Central Board of Excise & Customs.

The compendium 'Innovations: The Pursuit of Excellence in Customs, Central Excise & Service Tax' consolidates localised practices to facilitate their replication and adoption in various offices across the country for enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the tax administration, the government said in a statement.

The compendium was released yesterday on the occasion of Central Excise Day. Mukherjee also released a DVD of a documentary ' Central Excise: The Engine of Economic Growth', which provides an insight into the working of the Central Excise Department on the occasion, it added.
