Economic survey 2011-12: Fuel pricing needs to be put in a transparent formula
Considering the ballooning fuel subsidy bill of the government, the Economic Survey 2012 has said that India should have a transparent pricing formula for fuel.

It also recommended fixed subsidy on diesel per litre. While petrol prices are hiked every now & then, the gap between diesel & petrol prices has been growing because of the freeze in diesel prices. Any increase in diesel prices is received with stiff resistance from entrenched lobbies & from political parties.
