Economists often choose to disagree. But of late a common theme seems to be emerging out of research reports — signs of economic recovery. At least four research reports — Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, Nomura Securities and Morgan Stanley— among others have highlighted various indicators of revival.

Growth is expected to be triggered by consumption revival especially in the rural sector. Some see an export revival.
Financial market-based leading indicators also suggest a modest rise in growth expectations. Also Nomura’s Economic Surprise Index for India ( NESII), a tool to capture the direction and momentum of economic data, has risen sharply this year due to a pickup in industrial activity.

But, global growth uncertainty will remain a major drag on India’s economic and market outlook.
