DoNER approves projects worth Rs 78.50 cr

The Ministry of DoNER has approved projects worth Rs 78.50 crore in the spheres of education, power and water resources in Sikkim.

GANGTOK: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved projects to the tune of Rs 78.50 crore in the spheres of education, power and water resources in Sikkim.

The costs of the projects will be met from the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources ( NLCPR) fund administered by the Ministry, a DoNER press release said.

At the 94th Meeting of the NLCPR Committee held in New Delhi recently, Rs 65 crore was recommended for sanction of Augmentation of Namchi Water Supply in South Sikkim, Rs 5.50 crore for Providing toilets for Girls/Boys and School Staff to 44 schools at the rate of Rs 2.60 lakh each and Rs eight Crore for Modernization and Beautification of Distribution System with conversion of overhead transmission line with underground cable system in Jorethang Town, South Sikkim.

DoNer minister B K Handique said that steps were being taken to hasten the process of sanction to facilitate the early execution of projects under NLCPR.
