New Delhi recorded the maximum temperature of 47.2°C on Friday at the Palam area , the highest for the month of June in the last 19 years.

In the next 24 hours, heat wave conditions would prevail at some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Vidarbha.

"In Delhi's Palam area temperature on Friday was recorded at 47.2°C. It is the highest temperature recorded for the month of June in last 19 Years," said an IMD official.

On June 16, 1995, the maximum temperature recorded at Palam was 47.4 °C.

Apart from Palam in Delhi, the maximum temperature of 46°C or more was recorded at Churu in Rajasthan (48.6°C), Satna (48°C) in Madhya Pradesh, Ganganagar (48°C) in Rajasthan and Damoh (47.7°C) in Madhya Pradesh. Nowgang in Madhya Pradesh, Banda in Uttar Pradesh and Bikaner in Rajasthan recorded 47.6°C temperature on Friday.
