Delhi has highest per capita income in the country

NEW DELHI: The per capita annual income in the national capital has increased to Rs. 2.01 lakh in 2012-13 compared to Rs 1.73 lakh in the previous fiscal, which is three times the national average and highest in the country.

The per capita income of people in Delhi at current prices without factoring in inflation has been estimated at Rs. 2,01,083 which is a rise of Rs. 27,397 from Rs 1,73,686 in 2011-12, according to Delhi Government statistics.

The national average has been worked out at around Rs 61,564.

As per statistical handbook release by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, a whopping 3.36 lakh vehicles hit the city roads in 2012-13.

It said around 2.55 crore cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, country liquor and beer were sold in the city during the year as against 1.08 crore cases in 2011-12.

"The statistics reflect prosperity and sound economic situation in the capital city because of proactive economic policies of Delhi Government," Dikshit said.

The number of vehicles in the city has gone up to 7,77,4403 in 2012-13 which include 2,47,4087 cars and 4,96,2507 motorcycles.

The DTC services were availed by around 46.77 lakh passengers daily on an average.

As per the statistics, consumption of diesel which was 10.98 lakh metric tonne during 2009-10 came down to 10.37 lakh MT by 2012-13.

The dependence on LPG is decreasing with increase in use of piped cooking gas PNG. In 2012-13, the number of PNG connection has touched 3.86 lakh as compared to 2.28 lakh in 2010-11.

While referring to the better road infrastructure, Dikshit said that the road length in Delhi in 2013 was 33,198 km.
