Consumer price inflation moderates to 8.43 per cent in July

Inflation measured on consumer price index for industrial workers (CPI-IW) moderated to 8.43% against 8.62% in the previous month.

NEW DELHI: Inflation measured on consumer price index for industrial workers ( CPI-IW) moderated to 8.43 per cent in July against 8.62 per cent in the previous month.

"The All-India (General) point to point rate of inflation for the month of July, 2011 is 8.43 per cent as compared to 8.62 per cent in June, 2011," the Ministry of Labour data said.

Similarly, the inflation based on food index was 6.25 per cent in July, down from 6.91 per cent in June.

Point-to-point inflation rate measures the change in the level of the price index over a period.

However as per the data, All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of July increased by 4 points to 193.

In July, the index recorded maximum increase of 18 points in Bhilai, 15 points in Bokaro, 14 points in Haldia and 12 points in Jamshedpur.

The index, however, decreased by 2 points in Salem centre, 1 point each in Munkakkayam and Quilon centres.
