Commonwealth Games throw up many business opportunities
The Commonwealth Games, the largest multi-sport event in India scheduled to be held in New Delhi in October next year, have thrown up a plethora of business opportunities.
The organising committee has already floated about 20 tenders of which eight were released over the last three months, according to the information available on the website of the games committee.
Tenders have been called for various things like appointment of a public relations agency, housekeeping, a ticketing agency and general insurance company.
Besides, tenders or Expression of Interest (EOI) or Request for proposals (RFP) have been called for providing electronic timing, scoring and results system for 16 sports discipline and another one for providing Sports Surfaces.
One tender is for delivering team building and skill enhancement initiatives.
According to the website, there will be 270 ticketed sessions during the 12 day sports extravaganza and over 20 lakh ticketed seats.
The ticketing revenue opportunity has been estimated to be about $25 million or about Rs 100 crore.
Last year, the organising committee had floated tenders for appointing event management company for opening and closing ceremonies, taxation and regulatory matters, providing legal support, and even recruitment agencies, transport agencies among others.
About 6,000 athlets from 53 countries are expected to participate in the Commonwealth Games.
