Clear pleasant weather to prevail on oath taking ceremony of Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: Chances of a sudden shower ahead of Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi oath taking ceremony on Monday evening in New Delhi are weak say meteorologists.

Weather will play crucial role in the ceremony which is taking place in the open sky in the out courts of the Rashtrapati Bhawan with over 4000 invitees including heads of state and government of the eight SAARC nations expected to attend.

“Rains should not disrupt the oath taking ceremony of the Prime Minister today. There is 15-20% probability of rain showers in New Delhi,” said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The official said it will be pleasant evening with chances of cloudy weather. “Thunderstorm conditions may occur in some areas in New Delhi from afternoon onwards with maximum temperature to be around 38 degree celcius," said the latest bulletin of IMD. Private forecaster Skymet Weather Services has also stated that chances of Delhi getting rain are very remote.

“Sky will remain mainly clear with marginal rise in day temperature and pleasant evening,” said Mahesh Palawat, meteorologist, Skymet.

Since the past few days, owing to western disturbance passing over Jammu and Kashmir and associated cyclonic circulation over Haryana and North Rajasthan, the Delhi NCR has been receiving rain and thundershowers. Further, easterly winds from Bay of Bengal have increased the humidity level in the region.
