Assam records one of the lowest inflation rates in the country: CM

Due to demand and supply side policy interventions of the Double Engine Government, Assam's inflation is in check, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's office said in a tweet.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam recorded one of the lowest retail inflation rates in the country. In November 2021 inflation was at 8.3 per cent and July 2023 it was 3.91 per cent.

The chief minister's office in X said, “Govt of Assam is committed to keep inflation under control and provide succour to the people. Multiple policy interventions, initiated by @himantabiswa, have led to stable prices. This has made Assam one of the states with the lowest inflation level of 3.91%”.

The government stated Assam recorded one of the lowest retail inflation rates in the country. A dramatic fall in inflation due to timely policy measures of the double-engine government, it said.




Due to demand and supply side policy interventions of the Double Engine Government, Assam's inflation is in check, it said. “Increased cash transfers to women and farmers such as Orunodoi and PM Kisan besides incentivising cashless health insurance and free ration to every household, productivity gains due to crop diversification policies and lowering transportation cost by record investment in roads, railways and airports” helped to bring down inflation, it said.
