6 per cent rise in vehicular population in Delhi: Economic survey
The vehicular population in the national capital has registered over 6 per cent increase with a total of 88.27 lakh vehicles in comparison to last year.

According to Delhi Economic Survey, there were 88.27 lakh vehicles, including 27,90,566 cars and jeeps, during 2014-15 while in 2013-14, the vehicular population was 82.58 lakh.
"The total number of motor vehicles on road in Delhi as on March 31, 2015 touched 88.27 lakh, showing an increase of 6.4 per cent over previous year," the survey said.
The survey also stated that average ridership of Delhi Metro was approximately 24 lakh per day during 2014-15. The road network of Delhi has also increased from 32,131 lane km in 2007-08 to 33,198 lane km in 2014-15.
The city only had a vehicular population of 31.64 lakh in 1999-2000 while it touched 77.85 lakh in 2012-13, the survey said.
The national capital registered 56,81,265 scooters and bikes in 2014-15 while 52,96,163 such vehicles were registered in 2013-14.
The city also saw the increased number of taxis with 7,96,061 in 2014-15, but in 2013-14, 74,758 taxis were registered.
