Wolverhampton delegates sign agreement with CII on trade
To promote bilateral trade between India and the UK, the city of Wolverhampton Chambers of Commerce today signed an agreement with Confederation of Indian Industry here.
The agreement is part of the ongoing Wolverhampton India Project, launched last year in the British House of Commons, which aims at promoting multi-level cooperation between the two countries in the fields of sports, education and trade, Member of Parliament and leader of the delegation Pat McFadden said today.
"Globalisation today is a two-way street, with investment and jobs moving in both directions. UK is India's second biggest investor but equally, Indian-owned companies make an incredible important contribution to the UK economy", he said adding that through the agreement signed today, he was hopeful of strengthened relations between Wolverhampton and India.
UK delegation comprises Wolverhampton Councillor Elias Mattu, Stephen Catchpole (Wolverhampton Development Company) and Terry Wood of UKTI.
Catchpole said, "This even marks the start of major trade opportunities for both Punjab and the City of Wolverhampton and I am sure that this relationship will prosper and grow for the mutual benefit of both areas."
He revealed that through the signed agreement the inwards investors would be offered several services including location help and advice from Black Country Investment and other concerned authorities of Wolverhampton, pre-investment contact with the city's private sector Business Champions and Link with the University of Wolverhampton and colleges.
