US agricultural exports to India rise 37.74 pc
US export of agricultural, fish and forestry products to India has risen by 37.74 per cent to $467.62 million in 2006-07 as compared to a year ago.

NEW DELHI: US export of agricultural, fish and forestry products to India has risen by 37.74 per cent to $467.62 million in 2006-07 as compared to a year ago, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) said on Monday
The US has set a highest export record in commodities like pulses, eggs, fresh fruits, processed fruits and vegetables, snack foods, wine and beer, it said.
According to the USDA data, export of pulses jumped by a whopping 232 per cent to 48.44 million dollars during October 2006 to September 2007 as against 14.56 million dollars last year.
The export of fresh fruits rose by 40 per cent to 44.66 million dollars and a similar growth is reflected in processed fruits and vegetables segment that climbed by 31.67 per cent to 6.7 million dollars, USDA said.
Adding to the growth line is the eggs and products basket with an 80 per cent jump in the last one year. Snack foods (exclusive of nuts) export showed a growth of 74.96 per cent to 4.11 million dollars.
The department said export of wine and beer has doubled to 1.4 million dollars as against 0.69 million dollars last year. Other forest products like panel products and value- added wood products have also seen a record increase in exports.
However, the data reveals an interesting trend with export of more than ten commodities falling in the range of 20 to 100 per cent. Export of wheat flour and coarse grain to India slumped by 100 per cent, while that of poultry meat came down 80 per cent, vegetable oils (exclusive of soyabeal oil) has slipped by 36.19 per cent and soybean oil has dipped by 25.38 per cent.
