Turkiye lifts objection to IFD pact incorporation
New Delhi: Turkiye on Thursday lifted its objection to the incorporation of the China-led Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) agreement in the WTO framework as a plurilateral pact while the US has suggested "interim plurilaterals" to allow such agreements to be implemented in some manner. Around 40 countries including India and Turkiye had raised concerns about the inclusion of the pact through the plurilateral route.

Moreover, the minister-facilitator on incorporation of the IFD agreement into Annex 4 of the WTO Agreement has convened a meeting on March 28 to "consider the request submitted by the 128 members parties to the IFD pact" and "ascertain whether ministers and heads of delegation are in a position to join consensus on the draft ministerial secision", as per a communication seen by ET.
