Textile looks set to weave Japanese ties
The government will lead its first-ever joint trade delegation of textiles industries to Japan early next week, with an aim to tap foreign investments into the country.
Union textile minister Dayanidhi Maran will be leading a 17-member delegation comprising textile industry representatives to Japan on July 20. The Indian delegation will comprise officials from the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), Cotton Textiles Export Promotion council (TEXPROCIL), Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Promotion Council (SRTEPC), Knitwear Technology Mission and leading textiles manufacturers and exporters from Tirupur and Coimbatore textiles clusters. During his visit, Mr Maran will inaugurate the Indian pavilion at Japan international fashion fair (JIFF) to be held at Tokyo on July 22. As many as 44 domestic textile exporters will participate in the exhibition.
