Tea exports dip by 2.4 pc in 2010 to 193.3 mn kg
Tea exports from India fell by 2.4 per cent to 193.3 million kg in 2010 in line with the fall in production.
The exports of the beverage during the January-December of 2009 were at 198 million kg, according to data released by the Tea Board of India.
India's tea production declined by 1.3 per cent to 966.4 million kg in 2010, against 979 million kg in the year-ago period due to a drop in output in Assam.
For the April-December 2010 period, tea exports fell by 13 per cent to 139.3 million kg as against 159.4 kg in the year-ago period, it said.
During December 2010, shipments declined by 25 per cent to 15 million kg from 20 million kg in the same month in 2009.
