'Synergies in eco activities can boost India-Thai ties'
Seeking Thai investment in India's northeastern states, Union Panchayati Raj minister Mani Shankar Aiyar on Monday said synergies in economic activities could further boost the trade ties between the two countries.

KUALA LUMPUR: Seeking Thai investment in India's northeastern states, Union Panchayati Raj minister Mani Shankar Aiyar on Monday said synergies in economic activities could further boost the trade ties between the two countries.
Addressing the inaugural session of the "North East Trade and Investment Opportunities Week", the minister said the northeastern India must develop the necessary capacity to accept significant Thai investments in various sectors, including Infrastructure, Agro and Food Processing and Tourism.
More than 300 Indian and Thai businessmen, government officials and other dignitaries will attend the event, organised by the Commerce ministry and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
The event will project the northeast as a favourable investment destination to prospective Thai investors and businessmen.
Aiyer said India-Thailand business co-operation and exchanges had reached a new peak and lauded the India-Thailand FTA describing it as a great positive step towards an improved bilateral ties.
The minister stressed on the need to improve connectivity between the two countries, especially air links.
The Thai Commerce minister Krai Jirapaet, as part of a business delegation, had earlier visited three northeastern states for identifying areas for mutual business tie-ups and investment, as part of a high profile Thai business delegation.
