Silva to push India on world trade talks
Brazil's president says he will push Indian leaders to make concessions that might jump-start the Doha round of global trade talks.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is beginning a trip to Europe, Africa and India.
He says a main objective is convincing India's prime minister that the trade talks are more vital now than ever because of the global financial crisis.
Silva didn't give details on what concessions he would seek. He spoke in a radio broadcast Monday.
The Doha round of trade talks began in 2001 with the goal of helping emerging economies benefit from trade. Talks collapsed in July.
