The current export quotas for Russian producers of mineral fertilizers have been temporarily increased by almost 700,000 tons and this has ensured supply to India

The export quota for nitrogen fertilizers was increased by 231000 tons by Russia. The export quota for complex fertilizers has been increased by 466000 tons

These measures are necessary to support fertilizer producers who face the risk of downtime due to low demand in the domestic market and sanctions, according to Russian officials.

India has received fertiliser shipments of 3.60 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) from Russia since the start of the Ukraine war on February 24, according to Fertiliser Secretary Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi.

Addressing the National Conference on Agriculture: Kharif Campaign 2022, Chaturvedi said fertiliser shipments have been received before and after the “current geo-political situation”.

“In December last year, we entered into a C2C (corporation to corporation) supply arrangement with Russian companies for 2.5 LMT DAP/NPK every year for 3 years. Woh usko honour kar rahe hain aur usme se hum ko supply lagatar prapt ho rahi hai (They are honouring that and we have been receiving supply continuously),” he said.
