PSUs sign 6 pacts at Hannover Messe to boost 'Make in India'
NEW DELHI: Public sector firms, including BHEL, Instrumentation Ltd and HMT, have firmed up six MoUs with companies from Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Bulgaria for scaling up Indian manufacturing in high-tech areas.

The Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed yesterday at an event organised by engineering exporters' body EEPC India at the ongoing Hannover Messe fair in Germany.

"Six MoUs were signed by Indian public sector companies at Hannover Messe 2015 to enhance cooperation with global firms," Commerce and Industry Ministry said in a release today.

Power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) inked a pact with Russian Joint stock company INTMA for upcoming projects in Russia and Kazakhstan.

While Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Ltd and Bulgaria-based Milkotronics Ltd signed an MoU to manufacture milk analyzers in India, Instrumentations Ltd and German firm KE Kauer Engineering inked an agreement for production of control valves.

Three MoUs were signed by Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), the release said. HMT inked pact with Switzerland-based Num Controls for manufacturing of CNC controls, systems and drives.

It also signed pacts with FT Machine Tools, Germany, for collaborating on flow forming machines and Enit GmbH for total engineering solutions.

India is a partner country at the Hannover Messe 2015 fair, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

 


Speaking at the Hannover Messe, DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant said that investments are required to stabilise, augment and build a robust urban infrastructure and this is one of top agenda of India.

"One of the key challenges for India to grow at 9 to 10 per cent per annum is the challenge of urbanisation," he said.

According to a recent study, he said, India will have 700 million people getting in the process of urbanisation by 2050 and "therefore the challenge for India is to create two and a half Americas by 2050 and do it in a far more innovative and sustainable manner."

Industry chamber FICCI also signed an MoU with Hannover Milano Fairs India to organise a platform to discuss and showcase new solutions and innovations in urban development in 2015-16, partnership and opportunities in this sector.

Addressing at the fair, Department of Heavy Industry Secretary Rajan Katoch said that the German industry has opportunities to participate in India's plan for creation of about 100,000 MW generation capacity in the short term.

"A more profound technical collaboration between India and Germany will help the Indian electrical industry scale up in accordance with the rate at which the market is expected to grow," he said, according to a statement issued by EEPC India.
