There is potential to raise trade between Poland and India to $ 1 billion and in due course to $ 3 billion, according to W Madziar, Second secretary, Embassy of Polland in New Delhi.

KOCHI: There is potential to raise trade between Poland and India to $ 1 billion and in due course to $ 3 billion, according to W Madziar, Second secretary, Embassy of Polland in New Delhi.

At present the trade between the two countries was $600 million, he told the Indian chamber of commerce and Industry during a recent visit here.

Since Poland imports lot of rubber tea and coffee from Sri Lanka, Kerala could promote the export of these products to the Polish market, a chamber press release here, quoted him as saying.

Poland was very strong in maritime and food processing industry and in the manufacture of sophisticated machinery and equipment for power plants, equipment for railway and road transport infrastructure development, the release said.

There was ample scope for mutual cooperation in specific areas like power generation, distribution and transmission, food processing and fishing, the release said.

Poland is a EU member and its easy access to the EU as well eastern markets thanks to its location in the heart of Europe are favourable factors for investing there.
