PM Modi's Europe visit: India to project design, manufacturing prowess at Hannover fair
HANNOVER: India will showcase its design, innovation, manufacturing prowess at Hannover Messe, the world's largest industrial fair, apart from yoga, wellness and culture to woo German business to invest in the country.

India will be the partner country at the April 13-17 fair and will project India's brand image by incorporating many of the key core sectors of the Indian portfolio forming part of the ' Make in India' campaign.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Chancellor Merkel, will inaugurate the 'India Pavilion' of the fair tomorrow.

India will showcase its technological expertise and investment opportunities to the world, officials said. The fair is aimed at depicting India as a design, innovation, manufacturing and export hub.

Modi and Merkel will tour the fairgrounds to view selected pavilions of the two nations.

Exuding the opportunities that characterise India as a vibrant investment destination, the exhibitions and interactive installations are ready to demonstrate the depth of what India has to offer as a manufacturing partner.

The pavilion's design strategy is centred on portraying the economic potential of the country's most fertile sectors -- biotechnology, renewable energy, space, IT & Business process management (BPM), industrial corridors and smart cities, wellness, and the demographic dividend it aims to reap.

A prominent section has been dedicated to Indo-German alliances, potential avenues for partnership, and initiatives to harmonise the interests of both nations. Major national programs such as ' Skill India' and ' Digital India' have also been represented, thereby charting India's economic road map for the next decade.

India's participation in the world's leading trade fair for industrial technology that is expected to attract over two lakh global leaders in business, technology, industrial scientists and policy makers this year stands as the most significant international statement the 'Make in India' programme has made to date.
