Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal Wednesday said the government is working on a plan to push exports of goods made by tribals, either through ecommerce or by showcasing them in an international warehouse.

"Work is underway to create a plan to push exports of your products, whether through ecommerce or by creating an international warehouse, so that your products can be displayed there, your products can be available there, and people can come and buy them," Goyal said at the Tribal Business Conclave. "Whether it is India's market or foreign ones, we will continue to promote the task of delivering products made by our tribal society," he said, adding the government has significantly enhanced allocations of funds for the tribal affairs ministry.

The Tribal Business Conclave, organised jointly by the ministries of tribal affairs and culture and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, concluded Wednesday. Goyal also suggested that the entrepreneurs identify goods that can be categorised as Geographical Indications (GI). Goods under the GI tag get legal protection for 10 years.
