Pak traders hope emergency won't affect business with India
Even as their country is in the grip of an emergency, Pakistani traders showcasing their products at an exhibitition here hope that cross-border trade between two nations is not affected by it.

CHANDIGARH: Even as their country is in the grip of an emergency, Pakistani traders showcasing their products at an exhibitition here hope that cross-border trade between two nations is not affected by it.
"I am optimistic that this (imposition of Emergency in Pak) is a temporary phase and things will return to normal," said Khalid Barlas from Tariq Road in Karachi.
Khalid, who had put up a stall at the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) consumer fair, which concluded here yesterday, said developments back in his country would not affect the spirit of businessmen like him, who were in India showcasing their exhibits.
"I have been in regular touch with my family in Karachi and they are fine. I would be heading back home later today," he said.
Khalid's stall showcasing delicate hand-embroidery on ladies suits, sarees and other cloth like crepe, chiffon and cotton attracted a good response from the people here, he says.
Khalid's wife Kausar said she was optimistic of the fact that developments in Pakistan would not affect its relations with India.
"People on both sides want peace. Whenever we come to India, we never feel out of place here. In fact, one cannot differentiate between and Indian and a Pakistani merely on the basis of their appearance," she said.
Another businessman from Lahore, Mohammad Tahir also hoped that the relations between two countries would grow stronger in future and would remain unaffected by the present developments taking place in his country.
