New Delhi: India on Tuesday eased its export policy for organic sugar, allowing shipments of up to 50,000 tonnes a year. The commodity had been under the "restricted" category since 2023. In 2023, the government had made it mandatory for traders to obtain a licence to be able to export it. "Export of organic sugar... is allowed subject to an overall ceiling of 50,000 tonnes per financial year, as per the modalities prescribed by APEDA separately," the DGFT said in a notification.
