Singapore's minister of state for trade and industry Gan Siow Huang held talks with industries minister MB Patil on deepening Karnataka-Singapore ties. The discussion was held during Patil's visit to Singapore to attract investments to the state, industries department said in a statement.
Patil said there was considerable scope for deeper collaboration in aerospace and defence, semiconductors, aviation MRO and other advanced industries.
Further progress would be pursued through the Invest Karnataka Forum and the Singapore Enterprise Centre in Bengaluru, the minister said.
CapitaLand Investment is keen to expand its data centre capacity in Karnataka, Patil said in a the release. The global real asset manager is already developing a 42 mega watt facility at International Tech Park Bangalore with an investment of around Rs 2,000 crore.
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has expressed interest in further expanding its presence in the state, he said. The company operates 34 data centres across 10 cities in India, including three in Bengaluru, with more than 613 MW of IT capacity.
STT GDC is investing around Rs 5,000 crore to develop a 100 MW data centre campus on KIADB land in Devanahalli, Patil said.
The state government also encouraged TVS Motor Company to increase its investments, he said. The company, which already has a manufacturing presence in Karnataka, was asked to expand in manufacturing, electric mobility, advanced automotive technologies and research and development.
Industries department principal secretary Selvakumar and other officials were part of the Karnataka government delegation.
