Japan grants Rs 33 lakh to Indian NGO
Japan on Tuesday extended a grant assistance of about Rs 33 lakh to an NGO helping traditional embroidery artisans in Uttar Pradesh.
NEW DELHI: Japan on Tuesday extended a grant assistance of about Rs 33 lakh to an NGO helping traditional embroidery artisans in Uttar Pradesh.
The grant has been given to the Network of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (NEED) under the Japanese government's "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects" scheme, according to a release from the Japanese Embassy here.
The signing ceremony to formalise the arrangements took place today at the Embassy between Ryoichi Horie, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, and the representative of the NGO.
With this project, around 300 villagers in Uttar Pradesh would be able to improve their skills, which would lead to upgrading of their livelihood and conservation of traditional skills.
