ISMR: Ministers push for advanced manufacturing, strategic tech ties with Singapore

New Delhi: The fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) was held in Singapore on Thursday to explore new areas of partnership in advanced manufacturing and strategic technologies, including semiconductor supply chains, digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence governance and cybersecurity.

The ISMR reviewed progress made since the third roundtable, held in New Delhi in August 2025, and identified new opportunities to advance the Singapore-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Roadmap, an official said.

The ministers discussed how Singapore and India can "build on the good progress made through ISMR" and take the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership further, particularly in advanced manufacturing, digitalisation, sustainability and connectivity.


The ISMR is a ministerial-level platform between the two countries to drive cooperation in new and emerging areas.

Singapore deputy prime minister and minister for trade and industry Gan Kim Yong led the Singapore delegation. It included senior minister, coordinating minister for national security and minister for home affairs K Shanmugam; minister for foreign affairs Vivian Balakrishnan; minister for digital development and information and minister-in-charge of cybersecurity and Smart Nation Group Josephine Teo; and minister for transport and second minister for finance Jeffrey Siow.

The Indian delegation comprised finance and corporate affairs minister Nirmala Sitharaman, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal, and minister of state for commerce and industry and electronics and information technology Jitin Prasada.

"Our discussions explored deeper ties in advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, connectivity, digital, fintech, skilling, green economy and clean energy domains. The #ISMR also interacted with participants of India-Singapore Business Roundtable #ISBR. Shaping this contemporary and forward-looking partnership is truly a shared endeavour," Jaishankar tweeted after the ISMR.
