Indonesia to decide in anti-dumping case by Dec 27

Indonesia will take a decision in an anti-dumping case involving firms from India, China, Russia, Taiwan and Thailand by December 27.

NEW DELHI: Indonesia will take a decision in an anti-dumping case involving firms from India, China, Russia, Taiwan and Thailand by December 27.

"A decision on a pending Indonesian case on the alleged dumping of hot rolled coil from China, India, Russia, Taiwan and Thailand will be made by December 27," the Steel Business Briefing (SBB) reported quoting Jakarta-based sources close to the investigation.

This is the deadline for the investigation since there is a stipulated period for a decision within 18 months of the filing of the petition on 28 June, 2006," it said.

"We are still waiting for a decision. One of the reasons for the delay is the change of the chairman of the Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee (Kadi). The chairman has been changed three times," it quoted the sources as saying.

Companies called Krakatau Steel and Gunung Raja Paksi are complainants in the anti-dumping suit. They alleged that the imports were done at rates lower than the domestic prices, causing material injury and significant losses to local producers, SBB added.
