Indonesia and Gujarat may sign sister city agreement

The benefit will be joint research and development, sharing of best practices, innovation promotion, SME competitiveness, access to finance.

Indonesia and Gujarat may sign sister city agreement
AHMEDABAD: Indonesia and Gujarat may sign sister city agreement, a proposal for the same were made during the visit of Indonesian acting consulate general to India Mr Hariyanta Soetarto during his visit to Gujarat. Seventeen clusters have been identified which are common between Gujarat and Indonesia.

Mr Soetarto visited Cluster Pulse along with his collegues Mr. Budi Santoso, Trade attaché, Mr. Martin Hutabarat, Mr. Vijay Tawde and Mr. Tapan Chakravarty. Cluster Pulse is an economic development agency and an autonomous institution that is engaged in implementation of cluster development initiatives as its main objective. A day ago, the visiting Indonesian delegation also met Gujarat’s CM Anandi Patel.

Along with a group of industrialists from Gujarat they discussed the possibility of cluster twinning between Indonesia & Gujarat to create competitiveness of both economies. It was proposed to sign sister city arrangements between these clusters. Jagat Shah, founder of Cluster Pulse that organized the delegation said "We intend to have more such cluster to promote business ties between Indonesian and Gujarati business men."

The benefit will be joint research and development, sharing of best practices, innovation promotion, SME competitiveness, access to finance, training of manpower for skill development and greater market access to both clusters in each other markets.

Indonesian officials also invited Gujarat based business men to participate in the 29th Trade Expo Indonesia which is being organized in Jakarta from 8 to 12 October 2014. Cluster Pulse will be organizing a delegation of 20 members from Gujarat to visit the expo for display and one to one meetings. Companies which showed interest to join the delegation were Electrotherm, M V Omni, Maniar & Co., SLS Machineries, Food processing Co., AKG Marines & TiE.
