Overall, exports to the EU rose 40% in value terms overall and those of shrimps grew 57% due to the listing of 102 fishery units for export to that region. Exports to EU comprise both marine catch and products of aquaculture. However, India's shrimp and prawn exports to the EU shrank 14.64% in October.
As per the data, exports to Russia also rose in the first seven months of FY26 as Moscow listed 29 new Indian units besides conducting an inspection on units in India through their agency Federal Services for Veterinary and Phyosanitary Supervision (FSVPS). The official said that India has focused on moving from an erstwhile "one country one product one species" export order to a new "diversified market, many products, multiple species" system to prevent overdependance on one market to the exclusion of others.
