The government is working to assess the impact of the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States, said Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Thursday.

"For Donald Trump, it's America first, and for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it's India first," he remarked.

The US has imposed a 27% tariff on Indian exports.


On Wednesday, Trump announced tariffs on around 60 countries worldwide.

The tariff rates for some major nations include China (34%), Vietnam (46%), Taiwan (32%), Japan (24%), Bangladesh (37%), Pakistan (29%), Sri Lanka (44%), European Union (20%), and the United Kingdom (10%).
