India, US to discuss ways to enhance commerce, investment
India and US will discuss ways to enhance bilateral commerce and investment activities during the six-day visit of American Commerce Secretary.
Bryson is leading a 16-member business delegation to New Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai.
During his stay, he would meet senior government officials to advocate for export opportunities in India's rapidly expanding infrastructure sector and promote investment opportunities in America.
"Both the sides would also discuss ways to increase investments," an official said.
The meet also aims to promote a new national tourism strategy focused on creating American jobs, he added.
"I am looking forward to connecting American business leaders to new opportunities in India's rising infrastructure sector, and encouraging Indian businesses and individuals to invest in and visit the US," Bryson said.
He said that the huge Indian market presents an important opportunity for US companies to sell their goods and services.
In 2010-11, the bilateral trade stood at $ 45.6 billion. During April-January (2011-12), the US invested $ 913 million in India.
