The Centre on Thursday imposed five-year anti-dumping duties on imports of aluminium foil, Pretilachlor, and Acetonitrile from China, Taiwan, and Russia, following findings of unfair trade practices that hurt domestic industries.

The anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil (5.5 to 80 microns in thickness) has been extended from an earlier six-month period to five years on imports from China.

The government has also imposed a five-year duty on Pretilachlor, a widely used herbicide in rice and paddy farming, imported from China.

Further, imports of Acetonitrile, an essential chemical used in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, will face anti-dumping duty if sourced from China, Taiwan, or Russia.

The duties are based on recommendations from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), which concluded that the domestic industry suffered material injury due to dumping of these goods at unfairly low prices.
