India second top market for Oman

India becomes the second top market for Omani exports and the third major exporter to the Gulf state.

DUBAI: Trade relations between India and Oman are growing impressively, with India becoming the second top market for Omani exports and the third major exporter to the Gulf state.

According to the figures from the Oman's National Economy Ministry, the Sultanate's foreign trade witnessed a 0.2 per cent rise in total value of exports during the first three months of 2007, compared to the same period in 2006.

India was the third top exporter to Oman and the second top market for Omani exports.

India's bilateral trade with Oman is expected to cross the $1 billion mark by the end of this year, said New Delhi's new ambassador to Muscat, Anil Wadhwa.

"Our commercial relations are growing impressively. Last year they had crossed $900 million and I am confident that by the end of this year, we shall have achieved the magical figure of $1 billion in our bilateral trade," he was quoted by media here as saying recently.
