India has emerged as the second top destination for Omani exports after the UAE, according to official figures.

DUBAI : India has emerged as the second top destination for Omani exports after the UAE, according to official figures.

Oman's foreign trade witnessed a 50.4 per cent rise in the total value of commodity exports by the end of March 2008 as compared to the same period in 2007, according to the Ministry of National Economy.

For Omani exports, the UAE was the top destination with RO 189.9 mn (US $ 493.4 mn) of exports, followed by India with RO39.9 mn (US $ 103.6 mn) and South Korea with RO33.6 mn (US $ 87.3 mn).

The rise in exports was attributed to a 45.6 per cent increase in non-oil exports, which amounted to RO440.4 mn (US $ 1.14 bn) as at the end of March 2008, against RO302.5 mn (US $ 785.9 mn) recorded during the same period in 2007.
