The government on Monday levied a five-year anti-dumping duty on liquid epoxy resins coming from China, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and South Korea, aiming to curb low-priced imports that officials say were affecting domestic pricing.

Liquid epoxy resins are used widely in industrial and automobile paints and are valued for their corrosion-resistant properties. The product is an essential input for several manufacturing segments.

The move follows an investigation by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), which in August recommended the duty after domestic producers reported that cheaper imports were suppressing local prices and hurting competition.
