India frees up import of certain room, car fresheners

New Delhi: India on Friday freed up the imports of room fresheners and car fresheners that don’t operate by burning. Their imports were restricted till now.

“Imports of odoriferous preparations such as room fresheners and car fresheners that don’t operate by burning is ‘free’,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification.

India imported $4.77 million worth of such preparations for deodorising rooms (excluding agarbatti) in April-October 2020, mostly from France and Malaysia. The imports in 2019-20 were $10.88 million.
